Your Flexible IntegratorDyche
Electrical Engineering (DeeLtd), provide integrated systems using board level
control solutions for custom machines. The Vm-1 embedded controller,
manufactured by Micro-Robotics, provides a flexible platform on which to build
these solutions.

In this farming application, the Vm-1 is used to control air
temperature, pressure, timeclock feeder starts, alarm, an Rs485 network and
record management statistics. Iain
Dyche, founder of DeeLtd, states: “To embed a controller such as the Vm-1 at
the earliest stage of design provides for an economical solution, easily
modified as processes are optimised. Certainly for one-offs, the Vm-1 is a
very cost effective solution for the type of applications we are involved in,
with control equipment costs starting from around £400.” The
Vm-1 is relatively new to market, retaining the character of it's predecessor,
the highly successful Scorpion K4s, but with improvements in operating speed.
Venom, the software used to program the Vm-1 for control applications, is an
object-orientated language and has many drivers for common applications
allowing efficient implementation, whilst also being ideal for custom control
applications. The Vm-1 is UK manufactured and supported by engineers who
designed and built the product, with a vested interest in the performance and
acceptance of the device. DeeLtd specialise in machine automation for small scale production processes and equipments. Their services are applicable to large corporations or smaller commercial equipment developers, working alongside the customers existing factory team or autonomously. The
diversity of applications is wide and projects completed range from simple
temperature monitoring applications to automotive alternator and starter motor
test benches. Further projects have included environment control in livestock
farming, three phase power management, radio linked livestock weighing, feed
weighing and blending, water pH correction, alarm and pump failsafe interlock
systems. DeeLtd
is located near Stratford-on-Avon, with facilities for system development and
manufacture. Venom and Visual Studio.net programming are undertaken in house.
To minimise build costs the design often includes an integral PC linked to the
Vm-1 controller by an Rs232 link at 38,400 baud, providing the user with on
screen displays and switches rather than expensive hard wired devices. Unleash
